Three permit regimes

The City of Austin, one of four counties, or an independent enclave with its own building department. Adjacent streets can answer to different offices.

Two utilities

Two municipals, two cooperatives, a second city utility and Oncor. Only some of them pay anything toward a charger. Your bill settles it.

Coastal versus inland

The permit office, the utility and whether any rebate exists are decided by where the property sits, and the three boundaries do not line up with each other. Service territory ignores city limits, and several cities on this list are independent enclaves with their own building departments.
